The page structure

edit

This page needs a section on the covid-related arrival restriction, Djokovic, and other players and officials who got denied entry or deported. There should be a sentence or two in the introduction, and a whole section further down. This vaccination-exemption mess is a major element of the tournament. Prize money

edit

For 2022 the source is saying that it increased by 4.5% to a tournament record A$75,000,000. On 2021 Australian Open article, another source is saying total prize money for 2021 increased by 12.7% to a tournament record A$80,000,000. Something is not matching. --Babu (talk) 19:38, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Babu: I was the one who put the prize money stats there and I am a bit confused. Sources are saying that prize money is $75m this year, and that last years prize money was $71.5m. This 2020 article from ausopen website states that in 2021 "Players will compete for more than $80 million in prize money during their time in Australia, with the AO total prize pool remaining at the 2020 level of $71.5 million". So I'm not sure if the 2021 page should be fixed so that it is $71.5m? A bit confusing.. I think it is the difference between total financial commitment and total prize money. It looks like the $80 million figure includes satellite/warmup comps. WWGB (talk) 10:23, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
