Non-free use of File:Hyundai A-League logo.svg
editThere's an ongoing discussion at WP:NFCR#File:Hyundai A-League logo.svg regarding the use of this file. This is not a deletion discussion; It's just to discuss whether the file satisfies all 10 of the criteria for non-free use in this particular file. All interested editors are invited to comment and any additional clarification that can be provided would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance. - Marchjuly (talk) 02:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Discipline table
editSo we have the table of discipline, counting each club's yellow, 2nd yellow and red cards. The table is sorted but I'm not sure by what I'm supposed to sort it primarily? By amount of yellows? amount of 2nd yellows? amount of reds? a combination of the above? --SuperJew (talk) 16:56, 31 October 2015 (UTC)
- I hate that table, personally. The rules on it are so vague. I intentionally never updated last season's and it still hasn't been updated since Jan 4th. I don't think we need one so complex. - J man708 (talk) 12:43, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
- It has 3 columns to it. What's complex here? --SuperJew (talk) 17:26, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
- The fact that the source listed only shows yellows and reds for starters. - J man708 (talk) 00:17, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Gotta ask, does anyone else bar SuperJew actually understand this table? Sydney with 29 and 1 are ahead of City with 32. CCM with 25 and 2 are ahead of both Newcastle with 28 and 1 and Perth with 25 and 2. I'd add in a small message to the reader, but I have absolutely no idea what constitutes what and the notability between the differences between a straight and a second yellow. If this is using some form of points system, we should probably explain it for the casual reader, if not at very least the people who keep this article up-to-date... - J man708 (talk) 14:37, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- I asked here if there is some method, but there was no answer apart from you saying you hate the table. --SuperJew (talk) 15:59, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- I just figured because you kept it up-to-date that you understood it. Do you reckon we should try and revert to something a touch simpler? - J man708 (talk) 20:07, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- Well I've been using a probably slightly modified version of most fair play rankings I've seen/heard. Each team gets a "total score" of Yel*1 + 2ndYel*2 + Red*3. In a case where the "total score" is equal the teams are ordered by amount of Reds, amount of 2ndYel, team name. Hope that makes as much sense to you as it does to me. --SuperJew (talk) 20:25, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, that does... Sorta. Reckon it should stay as it is, or change to something easier? - J man708 (talk) 04:25, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
- As per the whole premise of this discussion, if there are other ideas I'm all ears, but there there doesn't seem to be much interest... --SuperJew (talk) 07:25, 25 December 2015 (UTC)
Consistency of count of top flight season in article header
editJust noticed that last season's J-League article opens with "The 2015 Meiji Yasuda J1 League season was the 50th season of top-flight football in Japan, and the 23rd since the establishment of the J.League in 1993." but the A-League's corresponding article has "The 2015–16 A-League is the 11th season of the Australian A-League association football championship since its establishment in 2004." Surely it should read "The 2015–16 A-League is the 39th season of top-flight football in Australia, and the 11th since the establishment of the A-League in 2004." Apples and apples, right? Paladisious (talk) 09:31, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Paladisious: I'm not familiar with the J-League, but from a brief glimpse at the articles it seems to me that they are similar in style to the A-League (as in a top-flight football (not completely professional) gives way to a fully professional league), so perhaps it makes sense they should be consistent.
- However why are you sure that the J-League opener is correct and not the A-Leagues? I would argue that there is no correlation between them and the count should only be for the fully professional league. The JSL and the NSL were only the top-flight football level by default, not by design.
