Why I left out "2008" in the created version
editWhen I entered:
...will be held between [[September 16]] and [[September 21]], [[2008]], at ...
it showed up as:
will be held between September 16 and September 21, 2008, at
Does anyone understand why Wikimedia turned "September 21, 2008" to "2008-09-21"? (The 2006 page uses the same text without the weird result. Lumpish Scholar 01:22, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- That's a date-prefs thing (under "my preferences"). For me, the wiki'd and nowiki'd text displays in the same order. Alai 15:58, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Individual points tables
editThe format in the individual points tables is a little strange and not one that Ive seen before, with a loss deducting a point from a players tally. In most media and other records players performances are simply shown as a win-loss-draw format with a point for a win and a half for a draw. I'd suggest reverting the tables to this format as it seems to be the standard and is easier to understand. Anyone have any other thoughts? Thestealthmonkey (talk) 15:55, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree. You don't get -1 point for a loss, you get 0 points (and if you wanted to change the scoring to give -1 point for a loss, you would give 0 for a draw, not 1/2). As it stands (1 / half / -1) makes no sense.
Can't say I've seen this system either, and as the above poster has posted it doesn't make mathematical sense. At first I thought that it was interesting that drawing two and losing one was a better way to get one point, rather than win one and lose two, but then I realised it was complete bollocks, LOL,.

When creating the original table I wanted to highlight the contribution of the players to their respective teams, particularly Poulter and Rose playing so well, Harrington and Garcia not so well and Holmes, Weekley and Mahan being unbeaten. I agree with reverting to the standard scoring of 1, 0.5 and 0. Jazzyjones45 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jazzyjones45 (talk • contribs) 00:28, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
