The following text was added apparently by a witness of the crime:

Minutes before the blast, Ian Jenkins four wheel drive cruised through St Kildare junction heading north along Punt Road. As he neared Commercial Road the vehicle glided to a halt. The family car had run out of petrol. Ian, his wife Elizabeth and eight year old son Adam Wynne-Jenkins had enjoyed visiting friends in St Kildare after driving down from Beechworth in North East Victoria. After the car stopped Ian walk to a near by Seven Eleven store to find petrol. As Ian left two cars pulled up behind their four wheel drive. Thinking it odd 8 year old Adam watched every move the two men were doing around their cars though the back window of the four wheel drive. When Ian returned with a small can of petrol the cars were still there. He put the petrol in but the car would not start. Ian went back to the Seven Eleven, this time with Adam to get more petrol. Elizabeth stayed in the car and watch as the two vehicles drove off. Between five and eight minutes she heard an explosion. When Ian and Adam returned both the vehicle were gone, on putting the petrol in the car the family were able to drive back to the Seven Eleven store and fill up before driving down Punt Road and in to Toorak Road were they saw the after math of the explosion.

The most significant breakthrough in the case came when Ian Jenkins rang the police with information he believed would help the case. Within a couple of hours detectives accompanied by a police artist were flown to Beechworth. The three members of the Jenkins family were interviewed separately and shown Manila folders, each containing 12 photographs. All three picked out Hagop Levonian, but only eight year old Adam Wynne-Jenkins picked out a man from another folder. It was Levon Demirian. Adam was also able to remember the registration of the white Torana ICP 444, this matched the registration of the bombed car. Adam also remembered the red commodore and it's registration number and that the boot and bonnet were up on the white Torna and the two men were talk and holding a spot light. Adam believed that both the men were Middle East looking and were wearing black pants white shirts with black jackets on.
