Promotion/relegation play-offs

edit

I believe the promotion/relegation round game section should remain in both the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga season articles, the reason being that it involved clubs from both leagues. The deleting editors argument is that it this section is not in the most recent 2. Bundesliga season articles, which is fair enough. Looking at the 2. Bundesliga season articles up until 1991, when the play-offs were stopped for a while the section is in each season article up till then. Looking at other second tier leagues in Europe, the Football Championship, Serie B and Segunda Division articles all have the play-off section. The play-off sections are not in the season articles for the league above as no team from these divisions participated in them. In Germany the play-offs consist of both a Bundesliga and a 2. Bundesliga team, therefore the sections should be in both league season articles, I believe. Calistemon (talk) 00:31, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bringing up other leagues is moot, because, as you stated, their promotion play-offs are self-contained within their tier of the league, but that's besides the point. Having the data in both the Bundesliga & the 2. Bundesliga will create redundant info, in addition there is a 2. Bundesliga & 3. Liga Promotion/Regulation play-off, etc. each season as well. I feel each season should be consistent and just have the "regulation" play-off in the tier the team(s) will be relegated from.  #FF9600  talk 06:20, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Reply
I can see absolutely no reason not to have the same information in both articles when it is relevant to both. And don't forget that, from 1975 to 1981, the promotion round was played out by 2. Bundesliga clubs only, with no Bundesliga participation, as had been in the Regionalliga era from 1964 to 1974. Would you want all that in the Bundesliga article only for the sake of consistency?
