swarajists
edithow many seats they won. 20 or 11? --CarTick 05:45, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- i think 11 is the correct one. corroboration here [1] where it says "handful". and here [2] where it says few. The 20 number was taken from Ralhan (and added by ravichandar in the swaraj party article). Lets go with the 11 number as it comes from a detailed breakdown--Sodabottle (talk) 06:12, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
United Nationalist Party
editis not the same as anti-ministerialists. --CarTick 05:55, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- mmm..This page says [3] UNP was an non brahmin alternative to JP and led by natesa mudaliar and C. R. Reddy?. --Sodabottle (talk) 06:06, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- that is correct but it was formed in 1924 by the merger of anti-ministerialists and Swaraj party. --CarTick 06:07, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- oh ok. then i will reword it.--Sodabottle (talk) 06:19, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- it is not really clear. let me quote what this books says.
I would recommend we leave this out until we have it more clearer. --CarTick 06:26, 19 December 2009 (UTC)In March 1924, the Swarajya members entered into an alliance with the other opposition members in the council to form the United Nationalist Party under the leadership of C. V. S. Narasimha Raju.
- it is not really clear. let me quote what this books says.

- that is correct but it was formed in 1924 by the merger of anti-ministerialists and Swaraj party. --CarTick 06:07, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
- done. i have removed unp from the article.--Sodabottle (talk) 06:34, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
Rajaram's thesis refer to them as United Nationalist Party and the leader as C. R. Reddy. page 10. --CarTick 02:01, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- the UNP seems to be a post election formation rather than a pre election one. should we add this in the no confidence section instead of the background?--Sodabottle (talk) 07:27, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
ok. go ahead. --CarTick 13:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Found one more thesis on the confused affairs of 1926-30. Gives a slightly more clearer picture of the "united nationalists and "independent nationalists". --Sodabottle (talk) 04:58, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- good one. that issue is really a muddied affair. will look at it. --CarTick 12:01, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
leaders
editlooking for reference for if Natesa Mudaliar was the leader of anti-Ministerilaists and S. Srinivasa Iyengar of Swarajists. --CarTick 16:03, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
[4] for srinivasa iyengar leading swarajists. Also ravichandar84 uses Ralhan's encyclopaedia as cite for him being the "leader of opposition" in 23 elections. And for natesa mudaliar all i can find is that he founded a splinter group justice democratic party (i will empty the leader2 in infobox)--Sodabottle (talk) 05:15, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
- i included that. --CarTick 07:00, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Rajaraman's book
editRajaraman's 1983 phd thesis is here. It was later published as The Justice Party: a historical perspective, 1916-37. Good source clears a lot of doubts about 20,23,26,30,34 and 37 elections. Haven't read it before - only saw it being quoted in other works like Manikumar's a colonial economy during the great depression. Good ref material--Sodabottle (talk) 19:55, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
- great find. it should be useful for non-controversial facts. we should be careful while adding opinion though. --CarTick 20:41, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
- u have access to the book? and what about this website http://dspace.vidyanidhi.org.in. --CarTick 01:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- It is the Mysore University's digital library project. The library is functional (internal links are all working), but the home page is broken (indian efficiency ;-)). Direct link for Rajaraman thesis is this. They are still digitising a lot of works, but hundreds are already in the repository. Before adding data from the typewritten thesis, I will verify in Gbooks using internal search if he has changed anything during 83-85 before he published it as a book.--Sodabottle (talk) 04:16, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

editin page 8 of the reference u brought up, it deals with two dates, 31 October and 10 november. --CarTick 01:49, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
