Turkmen start league revamp
editJust wondering if we can fit this article in anywhere? Taken from http://www.the-afc.com/eng/articles/viewArticle.jsp_168526031.html
ASHGABAT: Eyeing a berth in the AFC Champions League, the Turkmenistan Football Federation has started the process of professionalising their league structure.
At its recent executive committee meeting, the federation decided to allow only professional clubs having legal entity in the domestic league starting April 4.
Only six clubs – MTTU, Merv, Nebitchi, Shagadam, Altyn Asyr and Bartiyarlyk – have registered so far for the new season while others, including defending champions Ashgabat have been given a March 3 deadline to submit the related documents with the federation.
The committee also confirmed that the contract of national team coach Rahim Kurbanmamedov had expired on December 31, 2008, and they would be naming his successor shortly.
