Production
editThe film was written and directed by Richard Styles, unlike its predecessor, which was directed by Jim Wynorski.[1][2] However, it is still credited as "A Jim Wynorski Production" and Wynorski even makes a brief appearance in the film. Actress Julie Strain re-appears in the film, but playing an entirely different character than in the first film. It also reuses Julie Strain’s opening footage from the previous film, where she is performing a magical ritual while wearing a see-through robe.
Despite the title, the story has no connection to the original film.
Release and reception
editIt was first released to overseas markets during 1997 and 1998, and then was released on home video in the United States during 1999. In the United Kingdom, it was titled Legion of Evil: Sorceress II.
The film is less well-known than its predecessor, which has been considered by some as a cult film.[3] AllMovie's Mark Deming awarded the film two out of five stars.[4]
