Background
editFlicker was born in Israel to Jewish parents[4] and grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, after moving to the United States as a five-year-old.[3] She is of Ashkenazi Jewish and Mizrahi Jewish descent with Polish, Ukrainian, and Iraqi roots. Her mother named her Sigalit after the Hebrew word for "violet."[1] Her father Mordecai Paldiel escaped the Holocaust and lecturer at Stern College for Women and Queens College. After graduating from Cherry Hill High School West, she attended Monmouth University.[5] She supported herself during university by working as a waitress at a TGI Friday's and subsequently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications.[6]
Career
editAs of 2011, Flicker had been a matchmaker for more than 20 years[7][8] and has appeared on national TV programs offering relationship advice. After she and her husband of 10 years divorced amicably, she acted as his matchmaker.[9]
Flicker's relationship-advice book Write Your Own Fairy Tale was published by New American Library in September 2015. That same year, she joined the cast of the seventh and eighth seasons of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. On December 22, 2017, Flicker announced she was departing the show.[10]
Flicker also co-hosted a weekly podcast, Just Sayin', with Clare Galterio and Sammi Giancola.[11][12]
Media
editFlicker has appeared as a guest on television programs, including The Wendy Williams Show, Good Morning America, Dr. Phil,[13] and others. Her advice column, "Single with Siggy," debuted in the September 2013 issue of Marie Claire.[14] She is known for her loud approach.[15]
Flicker starred in the reality television series Why Am I Still Single?!, which premiered on VH1 on October 16, 2011.[15] Each episode featured two clients, a man and a woman, who were having trouble dating. Flicker sent each client on a test date with one of her recruiters without informing the clients whom they're dating.[9] Afterward she gave each client lessons in an effort to improve their dating habits.[15]
Personal life
editIn 1997, she married Mark Flicker, with whom she has two children. The couple divorced in 2007.[9]
In 2012, she married Michael Campanella to whom she is still married.[16]
She voted for Donald Trump in 2016.[17]
Flicker is a resident of Tenafly, New Jersey.[3]
In 2024, her stepson, Tyler Campanella, was arrested for participating in the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol, which she publicly supported.[18]
