Sieghart Döhring (born 12 December 1939) is a German musicologist and Opera researcher.
Career
editBorn in Biskupiec, East Prussia, Döhring studied musicology, theology and philosophy in Hamburg and Marburg/Lahn. In 1969 he gained a doctorate at the University of Marburg. From 1983 to 2006 he was head of the Forschungsinstitut für Musiktheater in Schloss Thurnau at the University of Bayreuth.
Döhring's research mainly concerns music theatre. Together with Carl Dahlhaus he published Piper's Encyclopedia of Music Theatre from 1986 to 1997.
Döhring is married to the musicologist and opera researcher Sabine Henze-Döhring.
