Early life and high school

Dotson attended Mainland High School in Daytona Beach, Florida. Coming out of high school, Dotson was rated as a two-star recruit and held offers from schools such as Central Michigan, FAU, Kansas, and Georgia State.[1] Ultimately, Dotson committed to play college football for the Kansas Jayhawks.[2][3]

College career

In his first three collegiate seasons from 2020 through 2022, Dotson appeared in 28 games, where he notched 90 tackles with one being for a loss, seven pass deflections, three interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.[4][5][6][7] During week two of the 2023 season, Dotson hauled in an interception as he helped lead the Jayhawks to a win over the Illinois Fighting Illini.[8] In week ten, Dotson intercepted a pass that he returned 50 yards for a touchdown in a win over the Iowa State Cyclones.[9] Dotson finished the 2023 season, notching 48 tackles with three being for a loss, a sack, 11 pass deflections, four interceptions, and two touchdowns.[10] In week one of the 2024 season, Dotson intercepted a pass which he returned 33 yards for a touchdown, as he helped the Jayhawks to a season-opening win over the Lindenwood Lions.[11]
