Geography
editOstředek is located about 11 kilometres (7 mi) northeast of Benešov and 31 km (19 mi) southeast of Prague. It lies in the Benešov Uplands. The highest point is at 520 m (1,710 ft) above sea level. The brook Ostředecký potok originates here, flows across the municipality and supplies a system of fishponds.

editThe D1 motorway from Prague to Brno runs through the municipality.
Sights
editThe main landmark of Ostředek is the Ostředek Castle. It is a Baroque building with Neoclassical modifications. The castle complex includes the valuable Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, which was added to the castle in 1739.[5]
