Oladapo Adenrele Ashiru is a Nigerian author and professor of Anatomy and Reproductive Endocrinology at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.[1][2]
Early life and career
editOladapo completed his MB, BS degree at Lagos in 1974 and obtained an MS and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska in 1978 and 1979. He is recognized as an HCLD (High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director) by the American Board of Bioanalysis since 1997 and holds the title of CC (Clinical Consultant) ABB-USA since 2012. Oladapo started his career as a Fellow of the Population Council in 1978 and received the Rockefeller Foundation Research grant from 1980 to 1983. From 1976 to 1997 Professor Ashiru held the positions of assistant professor, Senior Lecturer, and Professor at the department of anatomy College of Medicine, University of Lagos. From 1995 till 2014, he served as a professor at the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology as well as professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has also held different leadership positions, including serving as President of the Africa Reproductive Care Society Foundation and Secretary-General of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS), President of the Academy of Medicine Specialties of Nigeria. Notably, he became the first individual of African descent to hold the position of Secretary-General within the IFFS. In 2016, He founded the African Fertility Society and currently serves as its Foundation President.[3][4][5]
