Maylis Besserie (born in 1982 in Bordeaux) is a French novelist[1] and radio producer.

Biography

Graduating in 2005, Maylis Besserie initially taught documentary studies at the Institute of Communication and Media in Paris,[2] then joined France Culture as a radio producer.[3]

In February 2020, she published her debut novel, Le Tiers Temps, a story that portrays the final days of Samuel Beckett in a Parisian retirement home.[4][5] In the novel, Beckett reminisces about the key figures who shaped his life while describing the internal life of the institution.[6]

On May 11, 2020, she won the Prix Goncourt for debut novel, competing against Avant que j'oublie by Anne Pauly and Une fille sans histoire by Constance Rivière.[7]

On November 14, 2023, she was awarded the Prix des écrivains du Sud for her novel La Nourrice de Francis Bacon.[8]
