Development

Woo Min-ho, who worked on films such as Inside Men (2015), The Drug King (2018), and The Man Standing Next (2020), confirmed to direct his first small screen political drama Made in Korea.[2] Hive Media Corp [ko], which has presented bold films with both fun and artistic quality based on vivid characters and sharp insights into the times, such as Inside Men, The Man Standing Next, Deliver Us from Evil (2020), and 12.12: The Day (2023), managed the production of the series.[6] And penned by both Park Eun-gyo and Park Joon-suk.[7]

Some media reports that the series will be a spin-off of the 2018 film The Drug King but Hive Media Corp denied it and said that "it is a completely different work". Also the budget was reported to cost 48 billion while MBC Entertainment reported it to cost 70 billion but the production company denied it too.[8][2]

Casting

edit

Hyun Bin was reportedly cast for the series and according to his agency, Vast Entertainment, he is considering to appear but no final confirmation yet while Jung Woo-sung confirmed to lead the series.[2][6] On August 29, 2024, Hyun was confirmed to star as the rivalry of Jung. This is also the second time that Hyun and director Woo work together after Harbin (2024).[1]

JTBC Entertainment News reported that Jung Sung-il joined the cast in July 2024, while Ilgan Sports reported that both Won Ji-an and Seo Eun-soo confirmed their appearance for the series in August 2024.[9][10][11]
