List of Beyoncé pop culture references

American artist Beyoncé is regarded as one of the most pop-culture referenced musicians of our time, impacting political campaigns, television, film, commercials, theme songs, fashion, and the music of her peers.[1][2][3][4]

To use one of many examples, Beyoncé has been frequently parodied on late-night sketch-comedy show Saturday Night Live since 2004, paying homage to various moments in her career via numerous sketches, including:

  • The Prince Show (2004-2007) - Beyoncé (actress Maya Rudolph) co-hosts a fictional show alongside a shy and introverted Prince, acting as his mouthpiece.[5]
  • Celebrities Come To Visit Beyoncé and Jay-Z's new Baby (2011) - Various celebrities stop by to wish The Carters well on the birth of their first child.[5]
  • The Beygency (2014) - A fake thriller trailer about a regular guy, played by Andrew Garfield, hunted down by a shadowy agency because he dared express a negative opinion about Beyoncé.[5]
  • Elevator-Gate (2014) - A parody of the now infamous Met Gala elevator controversy starring Jay-Z (Jay Pharoah), Solange (Sasheer Zamata), and Beyoncé (Rudolph). Pharoah and Zamata attempt to explain what the incident was really all about, while bodyguard Julius (Kenan Thompson) frequently steps in to make sure things aren't getting heated. According to the duo, the fight wasn't a fight at all — but rather, a friendly gesture from Solange to get a spider off her arachnophobic brother-in-law. Beyoncé takes the interrogation opportunity to quote several of her hits.[6]
  • Beyoncé on ‘SNL 40 (2015) - Beyoncé (Rudolph) appears alongside Martin Short for a segment that highlighted various music-themed skits from seasons past.[7]
  • The Day Beyoncé Turned Black (2016) - A fake horror trailer mocks white people's alienation over Beyoncé’s “Formation” single and video, which proudly celebrated Black culture.[8]
  • Melanianade (2016) - Set to the narrative of Lemonade, Five women in Donald Trump's orbit — Melania (Cecily Strong), Ivanka (Emily Blunt), campaign manager Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon), former Apprentice contestant and director of African-American outreach for the Trump Campaign Omarosa (Zamata), and even the oft-ignored Trump daughter Tiffany (Vanessa Bayer)—all tell Trump off like Beyoncé did Jay-Z, with assistance from Mike Pence, before a final sad, deflating moment where they all fall in line almost immediately once Donald shows up.[9]
  • Beyoncé Visits ‘Hot Ones’ (2021) - Beyoncé (Rudolph) handles a series of increasingly hot wings spoofing interview series Hot Ones.[10][7]
  • Beyoncé Visits ‘Hot Ones’ Part 2 (2024) - Beyoncé (Rudolph) returns in full Cowboy Carter cover regalia, handling a series of increasingly hot wings.[10]

The following is a chronological list of Beyoncé pop-culture references and sync placements.
