Hotaru no Hikari (ホタルノヒカリ, lit. "Hotaru's Light") is a Japanese josei manga series by Satoru Hiura. It has been adapted into 2 television drama series and a live action film that was released on 7 July 2012.[1][2] Kodansha USA have licensed the manga for North American viewers.[3] The spinoff were the Hotaru no Hikari SP (2014-2017)[4] and Hotaru no Hikari BABY (2017-2021).

History
editThe series, written and drawn by Satoru Hiura, began in 2004 in Kiss magazine. The first bound volume was published by Kōdansha on February 10, 2005. The final chapter appeared in 2009, and fifteen volumes were released. A novel was also released on July 11, 2007[5] followed by an official guide on July 13, 2007.[6]
A bonus chapter named Himono to Buchō no Shinkonryokou (干物と部長の新婚旅行?) was published on the occasion of the release of the film live,[7] before being released in the seventh and last volume of the edition in bunko format on June 12, 2012.[8]
The direct sequel named Hotaru no Hikari SP telling the story after the marriage between Hotaru and Takano has been published since January 2014 in Kiss magazine.[9]
