Franco Mussida (born in Milan, Italy, on 21 March 1947) is an Italian guitar player, composer, and singer. Considered as one of the most important Italian guitarist, in 2023 he was awarded with the Cilento International Poetry Prize[1] (Music Section).[2] In 2020 he adhered to Empathism.

Biography

He is best known as a founder and prominent member[3] of the Italian progressive rock band Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), established in the early 1970s and still active. An acclaimed guitar player,[4] in 1984 he founded the Centro Professione Musica, a popular and jazz music academy, which is widely recognized as one of the most important examples in its genre both in Italy and abroad.[5] Besides working with PFM, Mussida has collaborated with a number of other musical acts and released three solo albums. In 2019, with Menotti Lerro, Antonello Pelliccia, Omar Galliani, Bernardo Lanzetti, Vittorio Santoianni and others, he launched the New Manifesto of Arts at the historical Caffè Giubbe Rosse in Florence.[6] He is a member of the Empathic Movement, which arose in the South of Italy in 2020.[7]
