Draft:Westmeath Minotaurs

  • Comment: This draft cites ten sources, of which only four (#3, 6, 7, 9) are secondary. Of these, the first two are local publications, which don't make a compelling case of establishing global notability. The other two are match reports and similar routine sports reporting. I don't feel these add up to notability per WP:ORG. DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:14, 22 October 2024 (UTC)

The Westmeath Minotaurs are a amateur American football club based in Mullingar. The Minotaurs compete as a member club of American Football Ireland (AFI). The team plays its home games at Shay Murtagh Park, the home ground of Mullingar Rugby Club. It sponsors Senior and Youth tackle football, as well as flag football.

The Minotaurs were founded in 2011.[1] and began Senior kitted football play in 2013[2] as a member of Division 1. They won promotion to the Premier Division in 2022 with a Division 1 Bowl win over the University of Limerick Vikings.[3]

The flag football team began play in 2014, and won the first ever Emerald Bowl to become Irish flag football champions in 2015.[4] In 2022 they won Glas Bowl III to win promotion back to the flag Premier Division.[5]

The club celebrated its tenth anniversary competitive season in 2022.[6]

In 2022, the Senior Kitted Team defeated the Philadelphia Blue Flame by a score of 15-8 in an international friendly.[7][8] Then in 2023, they won their first ever game in the Premier Division, the highest level division in AFI, over the Craigavon Cowboys, 38-0[9]
