The Tibbertac is mythological creature which is first believed to have been spoken of in areas of rural North West England around the turn of the 21st century. Legend has it that this large beast is dark in colour and stands over 6fr tall on hind legs, exhibiting elements of a large cat in its body shape and long tail, but with the long ears of a rabbit, and ferociously sharp teeth and claws. It is said to frequent wastelands and areas of forest in darkness and feed on the flesh of smaller animals or even unsuspecting humans should they lose their way in the dark or bad weather. Several sightings have been reported of a creature fitting this descrption, with a loud high-pitched screeching on occasion accompanying sightings. Reports of a body being found resembling a Tibbertac were rumoured in the late 1970s but not thought to have been substantiated.
