The Biskery is a privately owned British company specialising in the production of branded & personalised biscuits. Based in Chapel Allerton, Leeds, the company despatches its products throughout the United Kingdom.[1]

History

edit

The Biskery was founded in 2016 by Saskia Roskam & Lisa Shepherd. Initially operating from their kitchen tables, with a start-up capital of just £1,000,[2] they began by selling their baked goods at local markets. The company's initial unique selling point was the incorporation of traditional cake, biscuit and pie recipes from their respective Dutch and German heritage.[3] What has remained is their basic biscuit recipe inspired by Lisa's grandmother's biscuit recipe.

A request from a customer for a personalised gift box for a new parent ,led them to move into the gifting market.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The Biskery launched a "kindness biscuits" initiative,[4] where customers could nominate someone to receive a free biscuit with a handwritten note. This initiative helped raise their profile and solidify their commitment to community and kindness.

In 2023, the company, formerly known as Bloom Bakers, rebranded as The Biskery[5] and moved into its first dedicated bakery in Chapel Allerton. They have since collaborated with notable brands such as Google, Meta, Penguin Publishers and many more.
