Draft:Stojan Karadžić

Stojan Karadžić (Serbian Cyrillic: Стојан Караџић) was a voivode of the Drobnjaci in the Serbian Revolution and a relative of Vuk Karadžić. He perished in a battle along with the knez of the Drobnjaci, Šćepan Toma in 1812.[1]

After Karađorđe Petrović was chosen as leader of the uprising in the Smederevo Sanjak in 1804, smaller uprisings also broke out in Drobnjaci (1805), Rovca and the surrounding region of Morača.

Stojan Karadžić successfully fought the Turkish troops of Sulejman Pasha Skopljak in 1805 and 1806. In 1812 major Turkish reinforcements arrived in the region and it was then that voivode Stojan Karadžić and knez Šćepan Toma were killed in battle.[2]

Stojan Karadžić corresponded with Montenegro's Prince-Bishop Petar II Petrović-Njegoš during the Serbian Revolution.[3] [4]
