The Pinnacle-class is a class of cruise ships developed by Carnival Corporation & plc. There are currently four ships in the class, three operated by Holland America Line and one by Cunard Line.

History

edit

Holland America began developing the class in response to the Safe Return to Port requirements[1] from 2009, as an update to their existing Vista-class design[1]. Whilst the older design was limited to Panamax dimensions, the new, larger, Panama canal locks opened in 2016[2] meant this class of ship could be larger.

in 2017[3] Cunard announced they would be building their first new ship since MS Queen Elizabeth in 2010, later named as MS Queen Anne. Whilst based on Holland America's Pinnacle platform, Queen Anne is slightly longer and wider than the earlier ships in the class[4].
