pCloud is a file hosting service service that offers cloud storage, file synchronization, and personal cloud. It was founded in Switzerland in 2014. The data is stored either in a data center in the European Union or in the USA.[1] While the parent company of pCloud is based in Switzerland (pCloud AG until 2022, since then pCloud International AG), the operational business based in Bulgaria.[2]
History
editpCloud was founded in 2014 by Bulgarians Tunio Zafer (CEO until 2022) and Anton Titov. Zafer gave up management in 2022, Titov remains CTO.[3]
In 2019, the service had more than nine million active users with 32 employees and was profitable.[4] According to the company, around 16 million users were registered at the beginning of 2023.[5] In May 2023, the service already had 18 million users.
