Mustafa Mohamed Songambele was born on May 25, 1925. He received his primary education at Mfaranyaki Primary School in Songea, completing up to Class 4.

Political Career

Songambele's political career began in earnest in 1958 when he became the President of the Transport & General Workers Union. His close relationship with Tanzania's first president, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere, positioned him as a key figure in the country's struggle for independence and its early political landscape.

Area Commissioner of Pwani (1962-1965)

In 1962, Songambele was appointed the Area Commissioner of Pwani, marking the start of his prominent political journey.

Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam (1965-1970)

In 1965, President Julius Nyerere appointed him as the Regional Commissioner of Dar es Salaam. During his tenure, Songambele became known for his efforts to combat hooliganism and unemployment.
