The Lombard Domain or Langobard Domain was an kingdom established by the Lombards that lasted from around 546, with the start of the rule of Audoin and migration to Pannonia, until 568, when the Lombards migrated to north-eastern Italy.
History
editBackground and earlier Lombard conquests of Pannonia
editThe Lombards were a rather semi-nomadic group of people,[1][2] that often migrated to various territories from time-to-time.
The crossed south of the Danube River in 505 AD,[3][4] and remained in the land for various years under Gepid control. Under the control of king Wacho, the Lombards moved to Pannonia yet again.[5]
Establishment
editOn 546, following the death of then Lombard king Walthari, his regent Audoin (who probably killed him)[6] took control of the tribe.
Migration to Italy
editFollowing the war, the Lombards, Alboin feared an Avar invasion of the Lombards.
