List Them All is a web-based, daily word game designed to challenge and entertain users with unique and quirky trivia categories.

Gameplay

edit

Each day, players are presented with a new category, requiring them to list all items within a finite set. The categories are carefully chosen to be thought-provoking and unexpected, encouraging players to delve into less commonly considered knowledge areas. Examples include:

  • Countries starting with the letter K
  • Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan movies
  • Greek gods with three letters in their names
  • Elements of the periodic table starting with N
  • Beatles songs that mention birds in the title

The game authors intentionally avoid standard trivia lists and overly general knowledge categories, such as "Famous Painters" or "Primary Colors", to keep the game engaging and manageable. Ideal response ranges between 2 and 16 items.

Hint System

edit

To assist players with more challenging categories, "List Them All" includes a hint system featuring two types of hints.

1) Verbal Hints

edit

These are activated by clicking on a clue and provide subtle hints and additional context to guide the player towards a correct guess.

1) Letter Reveals

edit

Triggered by a button in the bottom navigation, letter reveals populate the placeholder squares with parts of the answers. Players are limited to 5 letter reveals per game.

If a player exhausts the 5 letter reveals and opts to give up, all remaining answers are revealed. The player is congratulated for their effort but receives no score if they did not solve any answers themselves.

Both types of hints are tracked and factored into the final score, balancing assistance with maintaining the challenge.
