Jeff Sheridan

Jeff Sheridan (Born 1986) is an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. Working within the forms of painting, drawing, cartooning, and mural painting, In his work, Sheridan explores space, time, and the natural world within the frameworks of science, folklore, and the occult. Through his multifaceted body of work, Sheridan intricately weaves together elements of scientific inquiry and mystical narrative, inviting viewers to contemplate the interplay between the tangible and the metaphysical.

Early Life and Education

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Sheridan moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as an infant with his family. An only child, he was inspired by the vocabulary and critical thinking ability of his late mother, Teresa Sheridan, a journalist, and the artistic, exploratory nature of his father, Bob Sheridan, an artist, educator, and SCUBA dive business owner.

He completed undergraduate studies at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida in 2010.

Career and Exhibitions

Sheridan's work has been featured in galleries internationally such as Oregon State University's Fairbanks Gallery, Oregon Contemporary, Chefas Projects.

In 2013, Sheridan initiated the establishment of Pond Gallery, situated in downtown Portland, Oregon. Functioning as a versatile platform for contemporary art, Pond Gallery operated until 2017, providing a space that curated a diverse array of gallery shows and installations. Embracing an ethos grounded in environmental consciousness and folkloric storytelling, Pond Gallery showcased works from a wide spectrum of artists, fostering dialogue and exploration of multifaceted themes within the artistic community.
