During the Italian occupation of Albania from 1939 to 1943, Fascist forces committed numerous atrocities and war crimes against Albanian civilians, including settler colonialism, forced Italianization, destruction and sacking of villages, and massacres during anti-partisan operations.[5][6][7][8][9]

On the 7 of April 1939, Italian forces disembarked on the Albanian coast and subsequently took control of the country after 5 days after facing little significant long-term resistance to the invasion. This attack was part of the aggressive imperialistic and expansionist policies of Benito Mussolini.
