Gonzalo Javier Martos Martínez (Madrid; born 2 December 1968) is a barrister and University Professor.

Biography

Born on 2 December 1968 in Madrid. He earned a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid. Later he graduated in Constitutional Law and Political Science from the Centre for Political and Constitutional Studies (Ministry of the Presidency). In 1995 he received an Intercampus grant (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) which enabled him to teach as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Legal, Political and Social Sciences of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia).

From 1997 to 2007 he was Legal Advisor of the Secretary of State for Education and Universities (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities). Simultaneously, he was the Legal Adviser of the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity, integrated into the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities). Voluntarily he left the General State Administration in 2007.

From 2008 to 2015 he was Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2008 he founded the law firm Martos Abogados, which in 2022 was renamed Legagel. The law firm provides legal advice in Administrative Law, specializing in Education Law and Public Workers Law, hence its clientele is mainly made up of public workers. As a barrister he has had many successes, some of which are covered by the media[1][2][3]. In the latest ranking of EMÉRITALEGAL (objective ranking based on analysis of thousands of judgments), published in 2024, is listed as the best barrister in Spain for Education Law and the second best barrister in Spain for Public Workers Law.
