Fake Lockdown

edit

In 2019, a 12-year-old sixth grader falsely made a claim there was a firearm on campus. As a result, the school, and the attached Mary Bryant Elementary School were put on immediate lockdown. Around 55 Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) stormed the building and found nothing. Lockdown restrictions were lifted, although, according to a former student there on that day, police forces remained on campus to investigate, and police escorts were required for student campus movement. The student was later charged with a misdemeanor and felony.

Coronavirus Shutdown

edit

In March of 2020, the school closed for 48 hours after an "individual with with regular access to the campus" came into contact with a positive-testing Covid-19 victim. Barricades were put in place and sterilization crews were sent to clean the effected areas. The time off was treated as hurricane days, which are built into Florida school calendars due to frequent weather events.
