Take a look at sources #1, #2, #4, #5 which are the sources that give the most significant coverage to Vuong. They all have a vaguely promotional tone and the first two even re-use the same photos. They all heavily quote him. They don't feel like independent sources to me, with that critical analysis which we're looking for. Do you have any better sources? Eric Vuong (born July 14, 1984), also known as Vương Lê Vĩnh Nhân, is a Vietnamese entrepreneur and venture capitalist with involvement in financial technology (Fintech), blockchain, and various other industries.[1]

Early Life and Education

Eric Vuong is a Vietnamese. He was born in Can Tho, Vietnam. He graduated as a pharmacist from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and later completed a certificate program in Securities Business at Can Tho University’s Faculty of Economics in 2007. He is the founder and CEO of FUNDGO Innovation Startup Investment Fund, Chairman of the Board at HVA Investment Joint Stock Company, and the founder of Trustpay Joint Stock Company.[2]

Companies and Startups

In 2009, Eric Vuong founded Trustpay Joint Stock Company. In 2018, Eric Joined and appointed Chairman of the Board at HVA Investment Joint Stock Company, a listed company on the Hanoi Stock Exchange.[3][4]

Eric invested in ONUS, a cryptocurrency investment app in 2021.[5] Eric and the app has faced criticism for its involvement in promoting volatile financial products with insufficient user protections. In December 2021, the platform made headlines when a data breach exposed the personal information of 1.9 million users.[6] In the same year, Eric also invested in a project called HanaGold, an online gold trading application. HanaGold was featured on Shark Tank Vietnam (Vietnamese: Thương vụ bạc tỷ) in 2022 [7] but failed to get any investment due to lack of transparency[8] [9]

In 2022, Eric co-founded FUNDGO Innovation Startup Investment Fund, the first innovation-focused investment fund in the Mekong Delta region with a starting capital of 25 billion VND.[10] [11][12] The fund focuses on investments in various fields, ranging from entertainment to blockchain technology, highlighting its diverse portfolio[13][14].

Blockchain Advocacy

Eric Vuong’s professional activities primarily focus on blockchain technology and its applications across various industries, aligned with Vietnam's vision[15]. He also invested in one of the largest cryptocurrency apps in Vietnam.[16] In 2022 Eric was appointed as the President of the Vietnam NFT Union.[17] In the same year, he signed a $100 million [18] Memorandum of Understanding through FUNDGO to develop blockchain technology in Vietnam.[19] He has participated as a speaker and judge [20] at big events such as TechFest Vietnam and startup competitions organized by the Department of Science and Technology in the region. He also serves as Deputy Director at the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Academy, where he focuses on developing entrepreneurial skills and understanding of blockchain technology.[21]

Investments in Other Fields

Eric has extended his investments into other industries, including martial arts, education and film production through the partnership with Johnny Trí Nguyễn, Charlie Nguyễn, Ngô Thanh Vân as well as several universities.[22][23] [24]These ventures aim to boost cultural representation.[25][26] In a notable cultural project, Eric Vuong partnered with renowned artist Nguyễn Hùng Lân to revive and modernize the iconic Vietnamese comic series "Hero Hesman"[27], including creating updated versions of the comic and developing models and collectible items inspired by the series. [28][29]
