Early Graduation is the process in an educational institution where a student who is attending the institution has earned enough credits to graduate sooner than the graduation date that the student originally had.
Process
editThe process of Early Graduation may vary from state to state and the educational institution's policy on Early Graduation, however commonly one requirement that needs to be meet is for a student to take all required core classes and meet the required elective requirements set by the institution. Another requirement that is possible is the student needs to submit a request to graduate early. That request then has to be approved by multiple different institution staff members.
Types
editMany different types of early graduation exist, some institutions only allow a student to graduate from the institution a semester early, while others only allow up to a year. Some institutions may allow both and allow the student to choose how early they want to graduate. These are the most common forms of early graduation options. However, a few institutions may offer different options.[1]
Reasoning
editThere are many different reasons for a person to graduate early. However, there are usually two typical reasons for a person to graduate early; financial reasons, and jump starting their career to enter the "real world" sooner. Students who attend an institution that have tuition costs can save money by graduating early. Some students feel like they are ready to advance onto their desired career paths sooner then the typical end date for their educational program that they are in.[2]
