History

edit

The predecessor, Dutch Jiu Jitsu and Judo Federation (Dutch: Nederlandse Jiu Jitsu en Judo Bond (NJJB)), of the Dutch Judo Bond was founded on 29 January 1939[6]. This with the aim to participating in the Olympic Games in Tokyo (1940), where jiu-jitsu would be presented as a demonstration sport. As of 1 January 1971 after three karate organizations joined the NJJB the name was changed to Budo Association Netherlands (Dutch: Budo Bond Nederland (BBN)).

After reorganization in the late seventies, practitioners of karate and taekwondo left the Budo Association. Before the start of the new decade, the BBN was renamed to 'Judo Bond Nederland'.[7]
