38 Signal Regiment (38 Sig Regt, French: 38e Régiment des transmissions) is a reserve communications unit of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. 38 Signal Regiment is the communication unit of 38 Canadian Brigade Group part of the Army Reserve of the Canadian Armed Forces.[1] 38 Signal Regiment is composed of:

- 2 Squadron (2 Sqn) – Regina, SK
- 3 Squadron (3 Sqn) – Thunder Bay, ON

Mandate
editThe Regiment’s mandate is to provide individual and collective support to Canadian Armed Forces operations, whether domestic or international. Many of the unit’s members have served in various UN and NATO missions around the world in addition to the numerous domestic response emergencies such as forest fires and flooding.[2]
Role
editThe role of 38 Signal Regiment is to provide commanders and staffs within 38 Canadian Brigade Group the means to exercise command and control. Their teams of signallers establish tactical medium and long range radio networks, satellite rear links, local cable networks, commercial network connectivity, and Army computer networks. They also support information management and provide information technology support services. As well, they provide the deployed facilities and services to units and groups from the Brigade for training in combat operations or in readiness for domestic emergencies. This includes transportation in military trucks and trailers, physical security, tents and furniture, electrical power generation and distribution, heating, lighting, and other amenities for sustaining a headquarters facility in austere conditions.[2]

edit38 Signal Regiment stood up 1 Apr 2012 through the through the amalgamation of 734 (Regina) Communication Squadron , 735 (Winnipeg) Communication Regiment , 736 (Thunder Bay) Communication Squadron , and 737 (Saskatoon) Communication Squadron.
