edit

Manchester City

edit

Born in Oldham,[1] Slicker played youth football with Manchester City.[2] He made his professional debut for the clubs Under 21 team in an EFL Trophy 1-1 draw at Lincoln City on 17 November 2020.[3] He made five appearances in the EFL Trophy for City under 21s across two seasons.[4]

On 15 November 2021, Slicker was named as a substitute for the first team in a 6–3 victory over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League.[5] Manager Pep Guardiola also named him as his substitute on five occasions in both League and Cup during the 2021–22 season.[6]

In July 2022 Slicker signed for EFL League Two side Rochdale on loan for the 2022–23 season.[7] He kept a clean sheet on his Rochdale debut, on 9 August 2022 in the EFL Cup 2-0 home win over Burton Albion.[8] On 11 January 2023, City recalled Slicker, having made two EFL Cup and one EFL Trophy Rochdale appearances.[9]

Ipswich Town

edit

In July 2023 he signed for Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year contract.[10][11] He recorded a clean sheet in his senior competitive Ipswich Town debut, on 9 August 2023 in the League Cup 2-0 home win versus Bristol Rovers. 20 days later at Reading in the same competition, he saved Charlie Savage's spot kick, to help Ipswich win the shoot out 3-1 after the teams drew 2-2.[12]

On 1 October 2024 Ipswich announced he had signed a new 4 year contract lasting until Summer 2028.[13]

International career

edit

Slicker is eligible to represent Scotland because of his Glaswegian father.[14] He has Scotland age group caps at under 17, under 18 and under 21 levels.[15][1][14][16]

He was called up to the full Scotland international squad for the first time on 4 November 2024.[17]
