The Central District of Arak County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان اراک) is in Markazi province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Arak.[3]

History
editAfter the 2006 National Census, Masumiyeh and Moshkabad Rural Districts were separated from the district in the establishment of Masumiyeh District. The village of Karchan was elevated to the status of a city.[4] Saruq Rural District was also separated from the Central District to form Saruq District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the new Mashhad ol Kubeh Rural District.[4] Additionally, the village of Saruq became a city.[5]Hajjiabad Rural District was established in the Central District.[4]
After the 2011 census, the cities of Karahrud and Senjan were merged with the city of Arak.[6]

editAt the time of the 2006 census, the Central District's population was 543,859 in 150,880 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 571,933 people in 174,305 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 565,357 inhabitants in 179,582 households.[2]
