Opposed speedy move request
edit- Category:WikiProject Lanka Premier League members to Category:WikiProject Lanka Premier League participants – C2E: WikiProjects contain participants not members. Empire AS Talk! 12:25, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Empire AS: You've tagged and nominated the talk page instead of the actual category. 1857a (talk) 03:39, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- 1857a, thank you for informing. I've now corrected it. Empire AS Talk! 04:35, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Empire AS: This could go ahead under C2E, but the parent uses "members", as do lots of others in Category:Wikipedians by WikiProject. – Fayenatic London 08:18, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Fayenatic london:, I know that most of the projects use members instead of participants. Only a few projects use participants like WP:LPL. However, you know that WikiProjects are not independent membership organizations, but collaborative processes in which editors participate. So, everyone must use participant instead of member but no one sees the difference between the two. Thank you. Empire AS Talk! 09:05, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Procedural oppose, the speedy process is not meant to rename categories as deviating from sibling categories. Then nominate the whole tree at WP:CFD instead. Marcocapelle (talk) 12:49, 2 December 2020 (UTC)
- Category:Wikipedians by WikiProject has 993 subcategories that use "members", while 558 use "participants". So it's clear members is more used. Armbrust The Homunculus 11:35, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
