New category

This category has been created in an effort to streamline the existing Orthodox rabbis category and be able to put a number of its members into an objective, completely factual and highly practical new category. Before any complaints (constructive criticism always welcome) I'd just like to remind everyone that User:IZAK has created upwards of five large categories recently - Haredi rabbis, Hasidic rabbis, Modern Orthodox rabbis, Religious Zionist Orthodox rabbis, and very recently, Rosh yeshivas. Each of these categories contain a large number of super-categories.

A common feature of their formation was that the creator, IZAK, never brought the matter up for discussion beforehand, never seeking concensus. Indeed, his enthusiastic category creation is not without controversy, irking users such as myself, Telzer, Shuki, Gidonb and Bachrach44, among others.

However, this new category is in a deiffernt league of simplicity and effectiveness. Indeed, IZAK himself has created the sub-sub category Sephardic Haredi rabbis in Israel, and I trust that this new category is a far more practical and useful arrangement. This cat is not necessary due to the fact that most Sephardi rabbis are Orthodox. This is noted by Tomer in the next section. This category gives the impression that all the rabbis in the Category:Sephardi rabbis are not orthodox. I am going to merge these two cats. Chesdovi (talk) 11:19, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Categories and sub-categories

• Nesher: There is no need to make a mountain out of a molehill! You have created a good new larger general category, itself a sub-category of the greater Category:Orthodox rabbis. And thus Category:Sephardic Haredi rabbis in Israel would be a true sub-category of Category:Sephardic Orthodox rabbis, so there is no contradiction. You seem to have an unnatural fear of anything with the word "Haredi" in it, which is not justified. Calm down! IZAK 07:01, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Name

Why is this not simply Sephardic rabbis? "Orthodox" is tautological and carries with it the oxymoronic implication of "Ashkenazi"... Tomer^talk 23:31, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
