Question about scope

edit

I was just editing the page on Charles William Barkley and noticed this category there. I removed it because Barkley was not a "British Columbia person"--he merely visited the coast on a fur trading venture--and just once, in 1787. His second voyage to the PNW was only to what's now Alaska. Barkley was English, not Canadian. So I took the category off. But I notice he still has the Category:Canadian people stubs cat. Checking this category I see lots of people listed who, like Barkley, don't strike me as British Columbia people, like William Robert Broughton, Juan José Pérez Hernández, and many others who merely visited. Pérez visited only once and apparently did not even go ashore! Curiously, Robert Gray (sea captain), the American fur trader, is not listed, even though he spent far more time in what's now BC than Barkley or Pérez, etc. So my question is--what is the scope of this category? As it stands it appears to be for absolutely anyone who so much as sailed by British Columbia in passing. Pfly (talk) 23:09, 14 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
