Articles relating to the Revolt of the Comuneros (1520-1521). It was an uprising by citizens of Castile against the rule of Charles I and his administration. At its height, the rebels controlled the heart of Castile, ruling the cities of Valladolid, Tordesillas, and Toledo. The rebels chose Charles' own mother, Queen Joanna of Castile, as an alternative ruler, hoping that they could control her madness.
