Cameron Skattebo (born February 5, 2002)[1] is an American college football running back for the Arizona State Sun Devils. He previously played for the Sacramento State Hornets.

Early life

Skattebo was born in Rio Linda, California where he attended high school at Rio Linda. In his junior season, Skattebo rushed for 3,550 yards and 42 touchdowns as he helped his team win a state championship.[2] Skattebo committed to play college football for the Sacramento State Hornets.[3][4]

In Skattebo's first career season in 2021, he rushed for 520 yards and six touchdowns on 57 carries. For his performance on the 2021 season, Skattebo was named third team all Big Sky.[5] In the 2022 season, Skattebo had a breakout season rushing for 1,382 yards and seven touchdowns, while also throwing for a touchdown, and returning an onside kick for a touchdown. As a result, he was named first team all Big Sky and the Big Sky offensive player of the year.[6] He was also named a FCS All American.[7] After the conclusion of the 2022 season, Skattebo entered the NCAA transfer portal.[8][9]

Arizona State

Skattebo decided to transfer to play for the Arizona State Sun Devils.[10][11] In week four of the 2023 season versus USC, Skattebo completed two of his three passing attempts for 42 yards, rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown, while also hauling in 79 receiving yards and a touchdown. [12] In week 12, Skattebo made his first career start at quarterback against the Oregon Ducks where he completed two of his six passes for 45 yards and an interception.[13]

In a week 2 win vs the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Cameron Skattebo rushed for 262 yards, including a 39-yard rush that allowed the Sun Devils to kneel the rest of the game. Skattebo was named the AP National Player of the Week, the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, and the Doak Walker Running Back of the Week.[14]
