Benoît Vitkine is a French journalist born in 1983. He is a specialist in the countries of the former USSR and Eastern Europe at the newspaper Le Monde. He won the Albert Londres Prize for written press in 2019.

As a correspondent in Moscow, he went on assignment to Ukraine and the Donbass starting in April 2014.[1] Since 2014, he has published more than a hundred reports on Ukraine. His reports in the Donbass[2][3] document the war, both from the Russian-controlled side and the Ukrainian-controlled side.[4]

  • 2019: Albert Londres Prize for written press, for a series of six investigations primarily focused on Russian influence, including the war in Donbass.[5][6]
  • 2020: Senghor Prize for the best first novel in French for Donbass.
  • 2021: Reader’s Prize (Livre de Poche), 2021 selection for Donbass.
  • 2022: Chadourne Prize for Les Loups.
