Almost Sharkproof is a 2014 Action comedy film directed by Simon Chan and Joe Rubalcaba.

Plot

Freddy is the adopted Jewish son of the Christian Krebs family, and Vince is his roommate. They live in a tent in the backyard of the home. They get an idea for a bulletproof vest modified to be sharkproof. They pitch it to Max, but get kicked out.

They go to a strip bar and watch an act by knife thrower Yuri and his sidekick Bella. The club manager Max wants Bella, but she doesn't want to yield to him. She sits with Freddy and Vince at the bar and orders drinks. They welcome her to spend the night in their tent, where she says she's from Romania, from a generation of women involved in knife throwing. Bella reads Freddy's palm and predicts that he will fall in love with another man, and succeed in business.

The next day they go to the beach, where Bella is kidnapped, but they fight off the kidnapper and throw him off the pier. Bella says Max expects her as a "payment" of sorts, and won't stop until he finds her. If police get involved, Bella being illegal will be deported.

She has dinner with the Krebs family. They tell the situation about Bella, but Mr. Krebs asks them to leave. Goons meet up with them at the tent, and kidnap Bella and take her to Max.

Freddy and Vince wear sharkproof suits and break into the club. They disguise themselves as white rappers and improvise an act, singing "meet me in the bathroom". She goes to the bathroom and Vince gives her their car keys. She then knocks Max up with a bottle, takes his gun, cleans out his safe, escapes via the air vents and drives out.

Freddy and Vince are captured by Max who beats them up. He asks to kill them, but later decides to ask for a ransom from Mr. Krebs. Yuri says he accidentally killed Bella's mother when his knife slipped after drinking too much alcohol. Bella returns with a gun, holding a henchman as hostage, but Max says the gun has no bullets. Max places an apple on Bella's head and asks Yuri to hit it with a knife. Mr. Krebs arrives in the nick of time with ransom money. Freddy and Vince are freed, but are going nowhere without Bella. A shootout occurs, where Yuri and Max are both killed, but Freddy and Vince are protected by their sharkproof suits! In the end credits, Freddy and Vince perform an ad for sharkproof suits. Freddy is now with the pool guy.
