Czech filmmaker Miloš Forman was the Jury President of the main competition.

The Golden Lion was awarded to the Iranian film The Circle, directed by Jafar Panahi.[2] American filmmaker and actor Clint Eastwood was the recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
