The 2025 United States presidential inauguration will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025, on the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. The event will be the 60th presidential inauguration. The winner of the 2024 United States presidential election is expected to take the oath of office as the 47th president on that day, and the winner's running mate is expected to take the oath of office as the 50th vice president.

The preceding ceremony for the inauguration of Joe Biden was largely curtailed due to extraordinary political, public health, economic, and national security crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and January 6 Capitol attack.

editJoint Congressional Committee
editIn May 2024, both houses of Congress appointed a Joint Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies to oversee construction of the platform and other temporary structures that will be necessary for the ceremonies and celebrations.[1]
Construction of the inaugural platform began in September 2024.[2]
Security and Operations
editAgencies expected to be involved with planning of the ceremony include the U.S. Capitol Police, the Washington, D.C., metropolitan police, and the U.S. Park Police.[3]
