The 2025 Kho Kho World Cup will be the first edition of the Kho Kho World Cup.[1][2] It will be hosted at Indira Gandhi Arena in New Delhi, India from 13 to 19 January 2025.[3] It is organized by the Kho Kho Federation of India and the International Kho Kho Federation.[4]

Format
editIt will be played under the seven-a-side fast format used for Ultimate Kho Kho.[5] The tournament will be played with teams split into four groups, with a league stage then followed by quarterfinals.[6]
This will be the first edition of the Kho Kho World Cup, it will held in New Delhi, India with 20 men and 19 women national teams. There will be two stages: the group stage, followed by the knockout stage.
Group Stage
edit- In the group stage of men's tournament, teams are divided into four groups of five teams each for the initial round-robin phase, each team will compete against others in their group to determine standings. A total of 40 matches will be played in this stage.
- In the group stage of women's tournament, teams are divided into four groups of five teams each (except in Group A) for the initial round-robin phase, each team will compete against others in their group to determine standings. A total of 36 matches will be played in this stage.
Knockout Stage
edit- In the knockout stage of both men's and women's tournaments, the top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, including quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final match.
Prizes
editThere will be no cash prizes, but teams will be honored with trophies, medals, and other recognitions.[7]
Preparation
editTrophy and mascots
editThe trophy and mascots for the inaugural edition was unveiled on 3rd January 2025 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.[8] The mascots have been named as Tara and Tejas. The blue trophy is for the men's competition while the green trophy is for the women's.[9]
Telecast
editThe competition will be telecasted in Sony Sports network and Doordarshan. It will be live streamed on Disney+ Hotstar platform.
Participants
editThe event will witness the participation of 23 countries from six continents, featuring 20 men's and 19 women's teams.[6] Each squad will have 15 players, one coach, one manager and international technical officials.[10]
Canada (men's team only) and Pakistan had been due to participate, but the Canadian team pulled out due to worsening Canada–India relations,[11] while the Pakistani team was not granted visas.[12] The number of African teams allowed was also restricted to ensure continental balance.[13]
