Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome to Wikipedia → Wikipedia:Welcoming committee/Welcome to Wikipedia (historical) – Per this RfC, this page seems headed to be redirected to WP:Getting started. Due to its historical relevance, it should be retained at the proposed title. (Note: for expressing opinions on the redirect, the RfC is probably a more appropriate forum than here.) - I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for this. If the RfC decides on redirecting, then why are you proposing moving this page? Pages get redirected all the time, when that's done, we don't just create a copy at another page. As long as the redirect isn't deleted, whoever wants to see an old version can view it. For what it's worth to this discussion, I'll oppose this. --Gonnym (talk) 08:34, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
- See WP:HISPAGES for further context on the practice of marking pages historical. Per the similar WP:PRJDEL,
It is generally preferable that inactive WikiProjects not be deleted, but instead be marked as {{WikiProject status|inactive}}, or redirected to a relevant WikiProject
. This is for a project subpage rather than a full project, thus the suggestion to use {{Historical}} rather than {{WikiProject status|inactive}}, but the same principle applies. Sdkb (talk) 16:02, 13 March 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose There's absolutely no reason to create a separate historical page instead of just redirecting without moving. * Pppery * it has begun... 16:12, 13 March 2020 (UTC)
