Revamp WP:RA?
I'd like to suggest that WP:RA undergo a major overhaul in order to make it more relevant.
What I'd like to see is something comparable to the WP:AfD process, except it would have the opposite goal of expediting the creation of new content. Hence, each request would receive its own tracking page where people can make comments, provide reference suggestions, link to relevant projects, post concerns about notability, volunteer to complete the page, and so forth. These pages would then be listed in bot-generated tables of links, sorted by category and whatever other criteria we prefer. There could be a concatenated page of new requests, and a categorized tree of links to older requests.
By doing this we can track who made the suggestion, provide categorization tags, record notes about who has investigated the subject, and eventually archive the older, inactive requests. The current lists of suggestions could be grandfathered into this new process, but all new requests would go through the tracking page creation process.
What do you think? Praemonitus (talk) 21:57, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- Praemonitus, that sounds like it would be a good idea if the average quality of the requested articles were higher. At the moment, I'm not even sure that your average request here even merits its own subpage. Also, I don't think that there are enough people involved in this project to maintain any level of discussion on all of these subpages. Removing spammy subpages would be turned into an admin's task; at the moment, the userscript I wrote (or just the edit button) is all that's necessary.
- But hey - if other editors like the idea, I'm all for it. Your subpage idea will probably make more people want to come here and use the process, and it'll almost certainly increase the overall quality of the process. APerson (talk!) 22:36, 18 February 2016 (UTC)
Requests for Coaster Express and Correcaminos Bip Bip at Parque Warner Madrid
Could articles for Coaster Express and Correcaminos Bip Bip be created? Both are roller coasters at Parque Warner Madrid near Madrid, Spain. An image of Coaster Express can be seen on the Parque Warner Madrid article while an image of Correcaminos Bip Bip can be found on Wikimedia on this link: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Correcaminos_Bip_Bip.JPG I will give descriptions of both coasters below.
- Coaster Express is the parks wooden roller coaster.
- Correcaminos Bip Bip (Spanish for Roadrunner Beep Beep) is the parks family coaster. It is themed after Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner.

Protect all Requested article pages with Pending Changes protection?
I got this idea from the performers, bands and songwriters requests page. Seeing as lots of unnotable things are added to these lists very commonly, would it be a good idea to make it go through Pending Changes so that spam, promotional, unreferenced, etc requests are declined? This'll save time for people who create pages from these lists of requested articles. Take Internet and tech culture for example; lots of these entries are unnotable and some are even advertisements. - @Brookie: I have added the information for you. I'm not sure why you were trying to add a new section on the main page. Military topics are at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Social sciences/Military and military history. However, because you wanted an article about a person, the correct section was Wikipedia:Requested articles/Biography. That has two different sections: one orders people by profession and the other orders people by nationality (use the tables of contents). After I checked the obituary, I added him to both the "Military figures" and the "United Kingdom" sections. If you can provide a link to the Times obituary, that would be helpful. I hope this works for you. Happy editing! — Gorthian (talk) 00:34, 19 October 2016 (UTC)

- @JgirlSara-chan14: Are you wanting to request an article, or do you want to just browse articles we have already? — Gorthian (talk) 23:17, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Gorthian: I would like to request some surnames. JgirlSara-chan14 (talk) 00:07, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
- @JgirlSara-chan14: Okay, I think I've figured out where you can add your request. Go to Wikipedia:Requested articles and scroll down to the table of contents. Use that to go to the "Social sciences" section, where you'll find a link to "Genealogy". I've just re-added that section (don't know why it was removed) and you can add your request there. I suggest looking through the Category:Surnames to see if there might be a page that already covers some of the names you have in mind; they might be at slightly different spellings, etc. Happy editing! — Gorthian (talk) 00:51, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

Origin of a figure of speach
I'm looking to find the origin of the figure of speech "What the deuce". It does not seem to be included in the Wikipedia search since, I'm new to this whole thing I guess I need guidance as to how to request it being included or a conclusion of the same? Basaatw (talk) 22:47, 9 January 2017 (UTC)
- @Basaatw: Welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia doesn't generally have articles on words or expressions unless they achieve some sort of notability. But our sister project, Wiktionary, does. If you look up "deuce" over there, you can find out more. (I think what you're looking for is in Etymology 2.) — Gorthian (talk) 23:08, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Vectorium Flash is a transnational coin whose blockchain is generated by the solo pool mining platform. Vectorium Flash (VECT) can be transferred between accounts and used to compensate participant mining nodes for computations performed.
By the end of June 2019 Vectorium provides a decentralized Coin Offering, the Vectorium Plus (VCTP), which can build Vectorium consortium an international network of physical public and informal places of electricity production.
The Vectorium Consortium (or Vectorium Islands) machine's instruction set, in contrast to others Energy Producers, is thought to be selfless-P2P-decentralized and autocomplete.
"MicroFlash", an internal transaction pricing mechanism, is used to mitigate spam and allocate resources on the network.
Vectorium was proposed in late 2017 by Enea Benedetto, a blockchain researcher and financial innovator. Development will be funded by an online crowdsale that will take place between July and September 2019. NotKilo (talk) 15:11, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Marking requests that were previously deleted
Hi all. Recently Jennifer Mercieca was recreated via this project after the article was deleted two months ago at AFD and the article is now facing a G4 speedy deletion. In light of this, I think it would be useful have a bot go through all requests periodically and add links to previous AFDs to requested articles. That way, editors could see at once whether a redlink is due to the article not having been created before or due to a deletion. Thoughts? Regards SoWhy 13:54, 29 July 2019 (UTC)

Request disambiguation pages
Is there a place to request the creation of disambiguation pages?
I got a list of names here and a lot of those red links should be created as disambiguation/name pages. The list was created by processing the names of English footballers and therefore many of those words are actually English-language surnames or English-language given names. — Ark25 (talk) 20:15, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- it.wikipedia has a useful bot for the disambiguation pages. An example is for the common Italian surname Rossi. I don't know if it can also be applied there. The list has more items with an unique occurrence on en.wikipedia and they don't need a disambiguation. Hope this helps.Micheledisaveriosp (talk) 13:04, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

Removing entries
What is the protocol for responding to page requests that are clearly not going to make it, notability-wise? Can they be removed with an edit summary to that effect, or do they remain here forever? Possibly (talk) 06:05, 14 December 2020 (UTC)

- A loose necktie, Possibly, I've been unilaterally deleting entries that facially seem to fail WP:GNG or other criteria like WP:NOT and I think that's the appropriate course. I've been taking a conservative approach to this (e.g., only deleting the entries that are CLEARLY going to fail just based on the name and a quick Google search), so I wouldn't go wild. But if something on here seems frivolous, I think we should cull it unless someone objects. DocFreeman24 (talk) 05:56, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia articles added here by me
Hi there. I just added here some Wikipedia articles to be created. Since I already tried myself and they never got created, I ask someone around here to do so. These articles are: Almorzando con Mirtha Legrand, Scatter Records, BRIC: El Nuevo Mundo and 26 personas para salvar al mundo. Please create them asap, it's been a very long while since I started wanting to create them... Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.195.107.55 (talk) 14:12, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Given what I've seen, the likelihood of any given Requested Article actually being generated by any Wikipedia editor is quite slim. This is part of why we encourage users to be bold about creating new articles on notable topics. It doesn't even matter (theoretically) if the article is poorly formatted, or lacks references, so long as the topic itself is bona fide notable. If you create an article but it isn't formatted right or you add references incorrectly, other editors have the option to correct your mistakes or to place tags on the article noting its problems (which you may then fix, if you think you know how, or which you can ask other editors for advice on fixing). If you create an article on a topic that is not actually notable, then you should expect it to be deleted in due course. There are lots of guidelines on what constitutes notability (like WP:GNG) which you might want to consult before creating an article, and lots of other available guidelines on how to go about doing it. But asking or re-asking someone else to do it for you isn't likely to produce much in the way of results, because most Wikipedia editors are already plenty busy with their own interests and aren't looking for suggestions for new topics. Occasionally someone might decide to take on a topic from the Requested Articles list and actually make an article, but the vast, vast majority simply sit here indefinitely. If you would like more direction on how to get started, consider visiting this link for more guidance. Good luck! A loose necktie (talk) 12:40, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- To provide a slightly alternative perspective, requested articles do get made. I've made two in the past week, and I'm working on a requested list. But mind you, that's 2-3 out of hundreds -- potentially thousands. It does happen, and it's pessimistic to say it never will, but don't have overly high expectations. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 02:33, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Let me revise that: I've noticed that you have already attempted to create draft articles on these topics, and that other editors have reviewed those drafts and decided that the subjects were not notable enough for inclusion. I also noticed that you included no references whatsoever in these drafts. If you feel the drafts were rejected unfairly because the subjects are, in fact, notable, then your best bet is to identify some legitimate sources that discuss the subject in depth and regenerate the drafts with those sources included. It doesn't matter if you don't format those sources correctly, so long as they are there and so long as others can check them out. The editors who rejected your drafts supposedly conducted their own searches and came up empty handed, but there is no guarantee of this. Also, since the topics appear to be related to Argentina, you will want to provide links to references so that other editors can follow them in Spanish-- Spanish sources are perfectly acceptable! But English Wikipedia editors can't necessarily understand Spanish and may not know where to look to identify a legitimate Spanish source. Expecting them to do so isn't all that fair. Are there articles on the Spanish Wikipedia for these topics? Do they have sources there? If so, you can copy those sources and include them in your draft of these article here on the English Wikipedia. But if the subjects are not notable and are not covered in published reliable sources in English or in Spanish, then asking for someone to generate them is going to be pointless. A loose necktie (talk) 13:10, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia articles added here by me (Part 2)
Hi there. I still insist that my proposals of Wikipedia articles to be fully created on this encyclopedia. These are now: Almorzando con Mirtha Legrand, Scatter Records, BRIC: El Nuevo Mundo and 26 personas para salvar al mundo. I know that these are argentine stuff and pretty unimportant. But the creation of these will undobtedly enrich the encyclopedia even further. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.195.107.16 (talk • contribs)
- FYI. User is blocked. Realistically though, my advice to users that want articles is not to request them at WP:RA, but to use the WP:AFC process. That is, write the articles yourselves, submit them, and an experienced editor will work with you to let you know if the topic is notable, and what other changes are needed to get it published. Although keep in mind that most articles submitted at AFC are found to be not notable, and therefore don't qualify for an encyclopedia article. See WP:GNG, and keep in mind that GNG is interpreted strictly. –Novem Linguae (talk) 21:06, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Suggest "Fulfilled requests should be removed from the list. (1 month later) Why is there no category "Journalism" or "News"? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 23:23, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
- Category:Journalism has existed for over ten years. Are you requesting that an article be put into that category? Jim.henderson (talk) 00:28, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Clearly (since I posted at the talk page of this "Requested articles" page), I was speaking about there not being a category (i.e., heading where requested articles may be listed) at this "Requested articles" page. Did you even take a look to see if there was a "Journalism" or "News" category there before commenting? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 17:57, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Ah. A section. Alas, I have become accustomed to thinking in the precise technical jargon of Wikipedia, in which a "section" and a "category" are every different things. Carry on. And remember to sign in so learning can be easier. Jim.henderson (talk) 14:51, 5 May 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Requested articles/Arts and entertainment has subsections for print media and tv/radio media. Facts707 (talk) 09:12, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
Hard to find
When I looked for an article on X and found none, instead of being sent to this page when I clicked on a link that indicated I could suggest its creation, I was sent to a page about creating a new article (as opposed to requesting one). Nowhere on that page could I find a link to this page. Why can't the link to suggesting a page direct a person to the page where a page can be suggested? I only was able to find this page because I looked at the talk page of the creation-guide page. That's hardly the best way to get to Rome.79.134.37.73 (talk) 01:28, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
- Sadly, WP:RA is not very active. So in a way, maybe it is good that you ended up at WP:AFC instead of WP:RA. –Novem Linguae (talk) 02:21, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
Definition of Watchina
I'm having trouble finding a definition of watchina. I came across the term in The Resurrection of Bass Reeves.
Searching for definition of watchina is not returning any useful results. Searching for "Watchina"+negro watchina negro seems to have better results but the definition seems to be a moving target. Some of them are "immigrant negros" (to the Oklahoma territory) and others are "white man's negro" (implying a derrogatory term).
Given the poor search results it might be a good idea to provide a definition of the term. A long time ago one of the Wikipedia editors told me Wikipedia is allowed to provide definitions of words. (He told me that because I cited an external site for a definition).

- Noloader, it's unlikely to meet the requirements for a Wikipedia article. You could look into creating an entry for it over at Wiktionary if you want. –Novem Linguae (talk) 04:27, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Largest (legal) prison break in American history.
Col. Thomas Ellwood Rose 77 Pennsylvania Civil War. Bev Brigadier General. Was captured and sent to Libby Confederate Prison. He orchestrated and led the largest prison break in American history. I believe you have an article on the break. He was in a Regiment that traveled South. He took Atlanta etc. During Reconstruction he ran Richmond Virginia elections and was terrorized by the KKK. Some believed they tried to assassinate him with one of his troops. It’s all online. His career was 33 years. Fought against Victorio in Texas and helped open Idaho. In Little Rock Arkansas he ended a resurrection quickly by telling them he would open fire on any of them etc. interesting career and man. Miller just wrote the greatest escape book and he praises Rose etc. He was head of Pittsburgh Schools or Principal of Pittsburgh schools after being a teacher there. Etc. He is buried in Arlington. 2601:282:4980:23F0:0:0:0:6F1B (talk) 15:10, 1 December 2021 (UTC)
