There are a number of criteria used to determine whether a nomination is eligible for TAFI.

1. Keepworthy – A nominated article must not satisfy any of the criteria for speedy deletion.
2. Open to general editing – A nominated article must not be fully, semi or office protected.
3. Not subject to deletion – A nominated article should not be in a deletion process (CSD, Prod or AfD). These articles can be brought to Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron.
